ABOUT LAST MILE ROAD

IMG_0033.jpeg

After many years traveling as The Supernals, in January of 2026, this talented group of gentlemen launched a new venture known as Last Mile Road. Most of the members of Last Mile Road have a long history in gospel music and have traveled for many years sharing the gospel- quartet style! The current ensemble continues that legacy with some new, fresh faces, along with a desire to mix the old with the new stylistically. Since their inception, this current group has captured the attention of concert goers and industry personnel alike with their dynamic presentation and smooth harmonies, coupled with some classic music along with brand new musical offerings.

What’s in a name?

One of the most asked questions at recent concerts is “how did you come to the name- Last Mile Road?” The group does agree that the name is unique, but there is certainly a story behind the moniker. The name came in a two fold way. While thinking through a title for the debut album of the group, baritone singer (and wonderful songwriter), Rusty Singleton had a thought for a song. While doing research for this song he looked up the phrase “last mile road”. He discovered that the phrase references the fact that when a product is completed and is making it’s way to it’s final destination, that process is referred to as the “last mile road.” Rusty quickly recognized the correlation to our Christian lives- we were bought with a price through Jesus’ shed blood on Calvary, and if we have accepted Him as Savior, one day we will be “delivered” to our final destination in our heavenly home. Where we are now is on the “Last Mile Road.” Rusty then wrote one of the most popular songs in the group’s recent concerts titled “The Church on Last Mile Road” which is a tribute to the churches that have influenced each one of our lives. Because of the significance of that song, and the correlation of the story behind the song, the group decided to adopt the name Last Mile Road as the new label for the group!

Lead singer and manager for Last Mile Road is Preston Garner. Preston has a rich history in gospel music. He traveled for many years with the group as they were known as the Supernals. The Supernals had much success in the southern gospel industry in the 1990s recording for Sonlite/Charity records and having chart successes with songs like “The Right Road” and “We’ll Meet Again”. He then moved into the church music ministry world for many years until accepting a position with friends John Rulapaugh, Dale Shipley, and Burman Porter in the group Freedom Quartet. That group gained recognition across the country singing on major concert stages and eventually won a Singing News Fan Award for Favorite New Traditional Quartet in 2015. Preston then returned to church music ministry where he serves today along with singing lead for Last Mile Road. Preston is married to Kellie, and they have 3 girls, Morgan, Lexie, & Elizabeth and 3 grandchildren.

Bass singer for Last Mile Road was the long-time bass singer for The Supernals-

Jeff Ingram. Jeff’s voice could be heard on all of the Sonlite/Charity recordings in the 90s as well. Jeff possesses one of the smoothest bass voices to ever come along in gospel music, which has made him a favorite of many gospel music fans for years. However, aside from his awesome voice is the sincere heart of this gentle giant of a man. Everyone who meets Jeff Ingram in concert instantly falls in love with not only his voice, but his genuine Christian heart! Jeff is a favorite everywhere that Last Mile Road performs! Jeff is married to Sheila, and they have 2 boys- Bradley and Brandon and 6 grandchildren.

The baritone singer for Last Mile Road is arguably one of the most recognizable voices to step on a gospel music stage- Rusty Singleton. Rusty’s voice is one of the smoothest, most distinctive voices to ever come along in any genre of music. For years he traveled with his own group known as Mercy Street, who gained much notoriety and garnered much attention regionally. He then began serving in his own local church while working as a fireman in his hometown of Knoxville, TN. As with Jeff Ingram, Rusty is known to be one of the most servant-hearted individuals one will ever meet- along with possessing that velvety, smooth baritone voice. Also, along with his awesome singing voice, Rusty is a fantastic songwriter! He has already written several songs that have become fan favorites at Last Mile Road concert appearances. Rusty is married to Leanne, and they have 2 children- Josh and Bekah.

The newest member of Last Mile Road is 24 year old tenor, Nick Stinnett. Last Mile Road is the first group with which Nick has ever sung, but one would never know it, as he sounds like a seasoned veteran of many years! It only makes sense because Nick comes from a musical family and has been involved in music all of his life having grown up in the home of a pastor, and attending college at the University of Tennessee and playing trumpet in the famous Pride of the Southland Band. Nick has already won over the hearts of concert attenders with his beautiful tenor voice which accompanies his kind and gentle spirit. Nick Stinnett, no doubt, will have a bright future ahead of him in music ministry! Last Mile Road is very proud to have him as a part of the team! Nick is married to Kaitlyn and they have 2 boys- Luke and Joshua.

Accompanying Last Mile Road on the piano is long-time Supernal pianist, Donnie Smith- we all know him as “Pudge”. Pudge has actually been a part of this ministry (beginning with the Supernals) since 1976. He is without a doubt one of the finest musicians around anywhere. He is, likewise known for his gentle demeanor along with his sensitivity to the Spirit of God not only in concert but in his daily life. Pudge arranges much of Last Mile Road’s music. He is one of the most consistent individuals that one could ever meet! Although he is typically one that likes to remain in the background, he is very much in the foreground when it comes to his leadership. Pudge is married to Patti and they have 2 boys- Trey and Nathan along with 5 grandchildren.

Filling the other instrumentalist position for Last Mile Road is bass guitarist, Brandon Ingram. Brandon just joined the group officially at the end of 2025, but he has actually been around for many years as he is the son of bass vocalist, Jeff Ingram. Brandon brings not only great musicianship to the group, but he also wins over the hearts of people everywhere Last Mile Road performs with his loving and genuine personality. We often say that there is no one that doesn’t like Brandon Ingram, and those who know him well would wholeheartedly agree! Brandon is married to Emily.

Although not often on stage with Last Mile Road in recent days, still a big part of this ministry is Mark Phillips! Mark works behind the scenes helping with musical production including recording, mixing, and mastering much of Last Mile Road’s music. Likewise, you just might find him at a concert mixing sound, or even occasionally filling in as a singer or musician! Mark is married to Allison.

Information

Last Mile Road is very unique in that the group intentionally only performs a limited schedule of events each year. Every person in the group is involved in ministry in their respective home churches. Preston Garner serves as Minister of Music at Black Oak Heights Baptist Church in Knoxville, TN along with Nick Stinnett, who serves as Communications Director there as well. Rusty Singleton serves in College Ministry at Black Oak Heights. Jeff Ingram serves in ministry at Faith Baptist Church in Jefferson City, TN. Donnie Smith serves as accompanist at New Hope Baptist Church in Maryville, TN, and Brandon Ingram serves as Associate Pastor at Kim Watt Baptist Church in Knoxville, TN. Last Mile Road is, first and foremost, unapologetically ministry minded. The desire of the group is to encourage the believers while pointing people to the Savior using gospel music as a tool to do so. Recently, Last Mile Road linked their ministry to the newly formed Windsong Records, hoping to expand the scope of their ministry to a broader audience.
